Description
I made this to keep a 250ml pump spray bottle of IPA within easy reach of my printer, without taking up shelf space. My Core One lives on shelving with steel frame and plywood shelves. The teardrop shaped slots in the frame are spaced 36mm vertically, which seems common in this kind of garage furniture.
The bottle I use is 50mm diameter so this would work for any similarly sized cylindrical item. The cage that holds the bottle can be rotated out of the way to release the bottle. This rotating section is print-in-place with 0.4mm internal spacing. That cage is attached by 2x M3x16mm (or longer) screws to the mount that takes the hooks to hang it from the frame. You can either use threaded inserts (2x M3x4mm) or a pair of longer M3 with nut and washer.
Using the same hook system as my Core One tool storage I've made it so that it hooks onto two vertically adjacent slots. It can be mounted hanging on the outside of the frame using just one hook. or using 2 hooks on the inside of a corner, which is where I'll be using it.
The bottle cage should be printed using a structural preset to ensure the gap for rotation. If you print the hooks structurally also, with 100% infill for strength, you should find they'll slide into the frame mount without rework (aside from removing the supports). With standard PLA I found the cage rotated straight off the printer, but my final is using matte PLA which needed to be worked back and forward to crack some internal anomalies away before it rotated nicely.
The project file is setup to print using a light fuzzy-skin texture on cage and frame mount, where parts don't need to fit snugly together.
The hooks are provided here at 96% scale in depth and width to the slots in the mount part for some relief. I found they didn't need sanding/deburring done that way but you may find some work is needed.
Note: I've only made this using threaded inserts so haven't tested the alternative way with longer screws - shout out if you try that, and find it needs tweaking.
