Description
Custom designed for the medium of FDM with ultra-precise tolerances and all parts 3D printable. The ball bearings are comprised of three parts with a zero-tolerance press fit. The housing fits 12 of these ball bearings. I recommend printing them at 0.1 mm layer height resolution. A significant amount of force is required to snap the entire assembly together. The dust shroud is optional.
This project is part of a larger one that intends to create snap on roller skates that are 100 percent printed from PLA, are nearly unbreakable and can support an adult human.
2025-09-30 Update: Refined the design slightly in preparation for releasing a ½ scale version. While printable the smaller bearing, especially the balls, are quite unpleasant to assemble due to their extremely small scale. I'll upload them for posterity anyway.
