Outgoing Mail Flag

Our mailbox does not have a built-in flag, nor is the box placed in a convenient location.

This “outgoing mail” indicator flag can be magnetically attached somewhere. Pull the flag out to indicate.

Hardware

• 8x 6mm diam x 2mm thick magnets (you can use less, depending on your magnet quality)
• CA glue

Instructions

1. Use PETG, as it's likely this will be baking in full sunlight.
   • I used 0.2mm layer height; 0.4mm nozzle.
   • Parts already rotated for printing.
2. Print Flag using a “high visibility color”
   • USPS 3.10 states “not green, brown, white, yellow or blue”, and recommends orange.
   • Use the solid flag STL, or the 3MF for the text version.
3. Print Case Top and Bottom in black.
4. To assemble,
   • Insert magnets. Push them in so they bottom out flush with the case. 
   • Insert Flag into Case Top.
   • Slide Case Top onto Case Bottom.
5. Give the assembly a magnet strength test. Once comfortable, CA glue the magnets and case.
   • Recommendation: fully extend the flag before applying glue, just in case.
