Our mailbox does not have a built-in flag, nor is the box placed in a convenient location.
This “outgoing mail” indicator flag can be magnetically attached somewhere. Pull the flag out to indicate.
Hardware
- 8x 6mm diam x 2mm thick magnets (you can use less, depending on your magnet quality)
- CA glue
Instructions
- Use PETG, as it's likely this will be baking in full sunlight.
- I used 0.2mm layer height; 0.4mm nozzle.
- Parts already rotated for printing.
- Print Flag using a “high visibility color”
- USPS 3.10 states “not green, brown, white, yellow or blue”, and recommends orange.
- Use the solid flag STL, or the 3MF for the text version.
- Print Case Top and Bottom in black.
- To assemble,
- Insert magnets. Push them in so they bottom out flush with the case.
- Insert Flag into Case Top.
- Slide Case Top onto Case Bottom.
- Give the assembly a magnet strength test. Once comfortable, CA glue the magnets and case.
- Recommendation: fully extend the flag before applying glue, just in case.
