Description
I only have very few SMT/SMD-components that do not fit into the original containers. However, for these I did not want to change the organization-system. There are physical bigger containers out there for 12mm-wide component-bands, but I wanted something for the existing gridfinity-rails.
I made the container wider to accommodate 12mm-tapes (actually up to 14mm tapes would fit) and just cut out the container-edges to not interfere with the spines of the rail. As one container takes up pretty much exactly 1.5 units of rail-space, I also added a mirrored version, so that two containers together just take up 3 units of space on the rail. The insertion-slit is also bigger for easier insertion.
The bending-radius is quite a challenge for 12mm-reels on this small container, so you most likely won't be able to fill them up completely, but if you - like me - only have a few components that are in 12mm and a bit thicker, this one is totally sufficient.
As a byproduct, these containers can be labeled with regular 12mm-printing labelprinter-tapes from e.G. brother.
