Description
This is a holster designed for the PiCON-OG light gun. It's still a “first draft”, but it has worked well for me in my installation--so far. Please give it a try and offer any feedback you have to make it better.
The holster is relatively simple, but it does have a few features:
For this build you will require the following:
x4 M3x5(OD)x6(L) heat inserts. (Same as used for the PiCON build.) (Amazon)
x4 M3x10-12mm screws (Amazon)
x2 M6x20 FLAT head screws with nuts (Amazon)
x4 Wood screws to attach GX16 connector mount. Also, a 7/8" (22mm) drill bit. I recommend a Forstner bit.
I typically avoid the use of heat inserts in my designs, but I figured if you've got the skill and tools to build a PiCON, you already have everything you need.
***Assembly***
Step 0 - Print parts as you see fit. I chose ASA as my filament, but anything should work fine.
Step 1 - If using the GX16 connector mount, ,drill a hole using a 7/8" (22mm) bit. Then, use four(4) wood screws to attach the connector.
Step 2 - Align the spool and mark the location to drill the 2 holes for the M6x30mm FLAT head screws.
Step 3 - Install M3x5(OD)x6(L) heat inserts into the holster.
Step 4 - Glue optional TPU insert into place at the bottom of the holster. (I used hot glue.)
Step 5 - This part is important. Route your cable through the exit port between the spool and holster. Using your hands, hold firmly in place.
Step 6 - Fasten the spool to the holster with M3x10-12mm screws.
Step 7 - Attach spool to your desired location (Arcade?) using the M6x30 FLAT head screws and M6 nuts.
Step 8 - If you like a clean finish, snap into place the optional cover plates.
Step 9 - Insert your gun and enjoy.
