Description
An initial version of an adjustable pommel for a technical ice axe. I printed everything in TPU with 6 walls and 50% gyroid infill. I can see a slightly more ergonomic design in the future, but this will work for now!
The insert is ~0.4mm thinner than the slot in the main piece to allow for compression on the handle. Possibly redundant given the flex of TPU, but it is working great on the prototype for now. (Dry filament and slower printing always helps for TPU.)
I intended to use metric fasteners but the only thing I had on hand was 1/4-20 socket head bolts, so I used that at 5/8" length. The nut was a tight fit, but with TPU it just needed a little tightening to slide in and make for a very secure fitting.
I'll be waiting until deep winter to get a little feedback and make some tweaks, so I'll consider this a work in progress for now. If you have ideas or requests please let me know. Thank you for looking!
