About the Škoda Logo

The Škoda logo is the iconic winged arrow, registered in 1923, symbolizing dynamism, technical precision, and progress. In August 2022, a new flat-design version of the logo was introduced for digital use, making it simpler and more flexible.

Symbolism and Meaning of the Logo

  • Winged arrow: Represents speed, technical progress, efficiency, and forward motion.
  • Large circle: Symbolizes the global reach of the brand and flawless production quality.
  • Small circle (eye): Refers to engineering precision and expertise.
  • Arrow pointing forward: Stands for progressive manufacturing processes and efficiency.

Wing: Signifies technological advancement, scale of production, and global distribution.

History and Development

  • 1923: The winged arrow logo was registered with the patent office in Plzeň.
  • 1925: First appeared on cars from Mladá Boleslav after the merger with the Škoda Works.
  • 1937: The word ŠKODA was added to the winged arrow logo.

2022: A major corporate identity update introduced a new logo version adapted to digital platforms.

Inspiration

The idea for the logo is attributed to Škoda’s then commercial director, Tomáš Maglič.
He was said to be inspired by a painting of a Native American that decorated his office in Škoda Plzeň.
