Description
This is a simple little clip I designed to clip onto a kayak paddle with an eyelet for a carabiner so you can attach the paddle to things. I use it to clip my surfski paddle onto my leg leash when I'm standing or floating next to the boat so I can leave my hands free.
If you want a carabiner with a separate eye permanently attached to the clip like the one I have here, just pause printing with the eyelet mostly printed, place the carabiner on it and then resume the print. When it finishes printing it'll be stuck there for good…as long as you don't break it.
As you can probably tell by looking at it, this isn't monstrously strong. It's plenty sturdy enough for just keeping the paddle attached to you in calm situations, but absolutely do not try to use it as a paddle leash. If you grab the carabiner and twist hard enough, you can snap the eyelet.
I designed this with a 14mm inner radius which fits well on my Braca XI paddle, but I've also included the FreeCAD file so you can play with the dimensions in the sketches if you need to fit a thicker or thinner shaft.
