Description
You probably have experienced filament rolls that seem to explode off of the spool. This results in what is often referred to as “birdcaging”. The filament looks like you were trying to make a birdcage.
One way to possibly fix the problem is to bake the spool in a dehumidifier. Once it gets “hot” it will take the shape of the spool. It still may try to jump off the spool which can cause tangling. Hours into a print that can be disastrous!
Sometimes you just can't wait for heating process. This where the Birdcage Preventer can help. A simple PLA .2 layer print that can save a print. Use magnets glued (CA) into the slots to hold the birdcage preventer in place. Place it so that it mainly causes some drag on the spool. From what I can tell, it WORKS!
