Description
Manfredi Laguardia from @3dlayerup has created models of landmarks of his home city of Palermo, capital of the island of Sicily in southern Italy.
This publication includes four historical buildings from the Modern Era (1800-1950). These are:

The Teatro Massimo (Maximum Theater) Vittorio Emanuele is an opera house and company located on the Piazza Verdi in Palermo, Sicily. It was dedicated to King Victor Emanuel II. It is the biggest in Italy, and one of the largest of Europe at the time of its inauguration, only after Palais Garnier in Paris and the K. K. Hof-Opernhaus in Vienna. Opened in 1897, it is renowned for its perfect acoustics (from Wikipedia).
The Politeama theater is located in Piazza Ruggero Settimo, right in the center of Palermo. The name comes from the Greek "πολύς" (polis; many) and "θεάομαι" (theamai; to watch). The building is an important example of Neoclassical architecture. Known as the “theater of the people”, it could hold up to 5000 spectators back in 1874.
The INA Assitalia skyscraper is the tallest building in the city of Palermo. Built in 1952 - 1955, its style reflects the modern movement according to the canons of Italian Rationalism. It was designed by Carlo Broggi, whose idea was chosen in a contest. The building has 18 floors plus a metal structure with the illuminated logo of INA Assitalia (an insurance company) placed on top. In addition to its height, it also stands out for its monumentality. There are sculptural reliefs created by the artist Nino Geraci representing Sicily and its industry.
The Chiosco Ribaudo (Ribaudo Kiosk), located in Piazza Verdi in front of the Teatro Massimo, was designed in a combination of art-nouveau and baroque styles by architect Ernesto Basile. It was built in 1894 (from Julius V on Flickr). Kiosks like these are traditional shops in open spaces originally meant to sell tobacco, newspapers, refreshments, etc. Many are still in use today also offering ice cream.
