Gridfinity Clutch Purse

A clutch-style purse that can be reused as a gridfinity parts-sorting tray. If the recipient doesn't want a tray to sort screws and bolts, then she could use it to organize craft supplies or makeup brushes.

The original box was generated from PerplexingLabs's rugged box generator. After generating the STL files, I used Tinkercad to move the position of the latches.

Print Settings

Layer height 0.2mm

Nozzle: 0.4mm

For the box base and lid:
2 or 3 perimeters, I chose 2 to reduce filament
Cubic infill 15%

For the latch:
3 perimeters
Cubic infill 25%

Filament: Prusament PETG Jet Black
Use a textured plate, if you have it. This gives the front and back panels a glitter-look under the party lights.

Print in an enclosure and slow down the speed, because this creates more shine on the print. If you don't have an enclosure, try to warm up your room before printing.

Assembly

Bolts:
The box needs 4x M3 bolts. I used use Fritz's M3 Bolt Replacements. The black bolts look better than steel, and they're strong enough for a handbag. If you print the bolt replacements, print the clip at 90% and bolt at 85% to get enough tolerance.

Chain:
Don't skimp on the chain: the black ribbon and brass chain mimics the handle on Chanel purses.

• 1m brass chain from my local hardware store cost 4 Eur

• 2m satin ribbon cost 2 Eur

You need a longer ribbon than the chain, because the ribbon is woven back and forth.

Assemble:
To attach the chain to the box, I used black sewing thread. You could use wire instead.
