THIS IS MADE TO USE ½" PVC AS THE MAIN SHAFT FOR STRENGTH.  You can get this from any hardware store and cut to the right size for the person using it.

I suggest that on your slicer you cut part of the shaft out as a test fit for ½" PVC pipe. All PVC should have the same outer diameter. If you have to scale the model to fit the PVC. Scale it at .02 increments. For me it is a snug fit and is not easy to get on the pipe.
