Description
This sliding stop will make repetitive cuts a breeze.
HOWEVER cutting any short timber on a sliding compound mitre saw requires care and comes with increased risks. Please ensure you are aware of the operational risks before attempting to use this.
This one is fitted to a Makita 10" Sliding Compound Mitre Saw - I have measured a few others and can say that it will fit any saw with 12mm diameter carrier and rods 102mm (say 4") apart. I use a bench and stop when longer cuts are required, but within reason an extension slide could easily be made using 12mm rods.
It's designed to orient as shown to hold the end of the board being cut, but can be reversed to squeeze a few more millimetres out of it. In that case I prefer to use a stopper block between the stop and the workpiece.
Mine is printed in PLA with 25% infill, and it has proven to be more than adequate for my purposes.
I have included a printable washer to place between the knob and the body to prevent the knob binding - I haven't tried that as I prefer to use a steel washer (45mm outside diameter).
