Description

This is a complete redesign (as compred to a modification of original) of this part…

https://www.printables.com/model/781149-heater-holder-repair-piece-for-zd-552a-from-zd-915https://www.printables.com/model/781149-heater-holder-repair-piece-for-zd-552a-from-zd-915

I have made a few changes to the original concept. I have…

  • Increased the wall thickness of some areas to increse strength,
  • Increased the depth and diameter of the screw holes,
  • Added a 2mm cutout so the cables don't have to be cut and reconnected to complete repair,
  • Opened up some of the tollerances (mostly in the T shaped cutouts).

NB: This is not really a good idea for most FFF/FDM 3D Printing. I've printed it from ABS & ASA and both are rather soft at the guns working temperature! I have ordered some in PA11-HP Nylon (apparently capable of 185°C). There is also the option of Anealing an ASA print for an improved temperature resistance (may want to do this in sand).

It may be better to print on an SLA printer with a high temperature resin with a high HDT.

I have included below a STEP & F3D file, if you need to tinker with the design. Just make sure you link it as a remix so I can have a look at your handy work!

I really wish someone sold replacements of these! I cannot find them anywhere!!! If you know of a source, drop me a message, please!

UPDATE 2025-11-08: The PA11-HP Nylon parts (from JLC3DP, not a sponsor) arrived this morning and one was installed. While it does work well for a while (like 15 minutes) and feels convincingly solid, it does eventually become too soft and the screws come loose. My next attempt is PET-CF which apparently is capable of 205°C. After that it is FormLabs High Temp Resin which apparently capable of 238°C (just need to find someone who will print it for me).
