Stair climbing attachment for Workzone (Aldi / Hofer) hand truck

A stair climbing attachment for the Workzone type 27839 foldable hand truck from Aldi / Hofer. It allows you to slide heavy goods up and down the stairs relatively easily, without “crashing” the hand truck on each step. The climbing attachment does not interfere with the folding action.

The attachment clips directly onto the steel frame and can be secured by two cable ties per side. It requires about 35 cm of M8 threaded rod as well as four M8 nuts and washers to assemble the crossbar. I recommend to secure the inner two nuts with some Loctite after assembly. I accidentally bought an M10 threaded rod instead and used that after boring out the mounting holes - so M10 works, too if you have the right drill.

Print settings

• Layer height 0.4 mm

• Line width 1.2 mm

• Infill 35% ("Cubic" recommended)

• 2 wall lines

• 4 top & bottom layers

• Supports not required

The suggested settings are for a 1.0 mm nozzle, but 0.8 mm will probably work as well. If you are using a more common 0.4 or 0.6 mm nozzle, use your regular profile and make sure that you increase the number of wall lines and top/bottom layers to achieve 2.4 mm thick walls and a 1.6 mm thick top & bottom or better.
