Description
A fun toothbrush holder for your bathroom.
The base .stl file has a solid base and solid stick figure. The arc-effects were created in Prusa Slicer. You can either use the .3mf files included or see this Prusa blog on modifier meshes to see how to do it yourself.
See new section further down for Cura Slicer.
More detail on arc-effect (Prusa Slicer)
The picture below shows creating 3 modifier boxes around all parts of the model except for the toothbrush octagon. For each modifier box, you can set your infill pattern and percentage, but to get the right effect, you must set top and bottom layers to 0.
Several versions of .3mf files are included that have done this already.
Cura Slicer
If you are using Cura Slicer, please see the folder named “Cura Slicer”. In that folder you will see two files. One has the special effect added to both the stick figure and the base. The other only has the effect added to the base.
Open the .3mf file you chose as a project in Cura Slicer.
As shown in the picture above, there are 3 “modifier” boxes that change the settings for the parts of the model they intersect with. If you click on one of these boxes, then click on “Per Model Settings” on the left you should see some options for changing the “top layers”, “bottom layers”, “infill pattern”, and “infill density”.
By setting top and bottom layers to 0, you are telling the slicer to let the infill show through by not covering it up with anything. Play with the infills and density to get the effect you want.
