Land Rover New Defender Universal Mount

Design

This mount is designed to fit into the front storage compartment of the New Defender / Land Rover model L663. Unlike other designs, the mount is very gentle and does not squeeze or damage any original parts. It is designed to carry various adapters fitting smartphone, pads, etc. 

The standard mount is made up from a top and a bottom part, plus a nut to add tension between the two. It comes with holes matching RAM's AMPS 2-hole pattern like used for the RAM-B-238U base.

Besides this “standard” adapter, I have added a mount for the Voyager rear driving cam which allows turning the screen towards the driver. Other adapters may be added later.

Printing

The mount top and bottom parts are printing on sidewards. Make sure the strut is on the lower side for the bottom part and vice versa for the top part. Add support from build plate only. 

The Voyager adapter is more complicated. Use organic support from build plate as shown in the slicer screenshot attached. I recommend to change from 2 to 3 horizontal perimeters to reduce vibration. 

Designed to be printed using a 0.4mm nozzle and 0.20mm layers, PLA or PETG.

In addition to the printed parts, the following parts are required:

• 5 x M4 Ruthex brass inserts with a max length of 5 mm (universal mount)
• optional foam rubber attached to the bottom part (universal mount)
• 9 x M4 countersunk stainless steel screws 12 to 15 mm overall length (Voyager adapter)
• 1 x M4 countersunk stainless steel screw of 35 mm overall length (Voyager adapter)

The price is 20 EUR plus shipping for the universal mount plus 20 EUR for the Voyager adapter. Parts are shipped including screws and foam rubber. RAM parts are not included.
