Why dedicated storage matters:
Keeping BCG parts and the charging handle stored securely between maintenance sessions prevents loss of tiny but critical components (cam pin, extractor spring, retaining pin), reduces exposure to dust, grit, and moisture, and shortens the time needed to start cleaning and reassemble the rifle. A proper storage tray minimizes the chance of misplacing parts or reassembling in the wrong order.

Cleaning importance:
Regular cleaning of the BCG is essential for reliability and safety. Carbon and fouling accumulate in the bolt, gas key, extractor, and firing-pin channel and can cause malfunctions such as failures to feed/fire/extract or rough cycling. Storing parts in a clean, protected tray makes it easier to perform routine maintenance on schedule and to inspect components for wear.

Recommended:

1. Quick inspection & wipe after range sessions.
2. Full disassembly and cleaning every few hundred rounds (commonly ~300–600 rounds), or sooner with heavy fouling, suppressed fire, corrosive ammo, or exposure to dirt/water.
3. Inspect gas rings, extractor, and firing pin channel regularly; replace worn parts as needed.

Safety reminders:

1. Always clear the rifle before disassembly: remove magazine, lock the action open, and visually/physically verify the chamber is empty.
2. Store parts in the tray with the lid closed if children, pets, or casual handling is possible.
3. Keep solvents and oils stored separately—this tray is for clean/dry storage; if you need to store wet/solvent-soaked parts, use a tray and materials rated for that purpose.
