Description
This is a wall mount for the Prusa XL filament sensors. It was created in 5 minutes by modifying another user's model to have proper senor orientation so that they would function. This can easily be modified to use less material and speed up the print process.
I used an M3x20mm and nut. The stock one will work but the longer one makes it easier to tread the nut.
Note that 4 & 5 will need to be located on the left wall and 1-3 will need to be on the right wall. Run new PTFE tubes from the sensor all the way to to the Nextruders.
This modification will require you to extend the lengths of the cables going to the filament sensors by designing an extension or cutting and soldering to add length. I accomplished this by cutting the existing cables and soldering on additional length. Be sure to cut only a single wire at a time to avoid crossing wires. Heat shrink each splice and wrap the bundle.
11/26/25 - Added a 101mm version to get the mount farther from the wall. Also note that the mount for the 3 spool side needs to be installed about 6" farther way from the spools than shown in the photo. Having it too close makes it hard for the printer to retract and may lead to filament breaks.
Instructions to make an extension cable with connectors can be found here (note that I was unable to calibrate sensors when rotated 90 degrees as on the model below; however I did utilize his model to adapt to this one:
