Description
I have a craft project where I wanted to use a small quantity of paint, applied with a 4" / 10.16cm wide paint roller. I am only using a 4 oz. / 118 ml bottle of craft paint, so I don't want to waste a lot of the paint by using a larger, store-bought mini paint tray (see size comparison photos). This tray has less surface area for the paint to spread out in, so I can get away with using a smaller quantity of paint. It will require me to be more careful when filling the roller with paint in the tray, because of the shallow side walls and smaller bumpy surface, but I think the trade-off will be worth it to not waste paint and have to purchase another bottle.
I printed this tray with Bambu white PETG-HF, with 0.20mm layer height, 0.4mm nozzle, 15% infill, and 3 walls and top & bottom layers.
The end result: I applied the craft paint, with a mini roller, to a stamp that I 3D printed. Then, stamped the image onto some cloth bags. I was able to stamp 45 bags, and I still have half of the bottle of craft paint. :D It wasn't that hard to keep the paint in the tray, and it was surprisingly not messy. The image on the bags is light, but that is kind of what I was going for.
