Description

Took inspiration from a recent make and designed some swivel-stuff: there's a base for M3 screws and two clamp variations:

  1. Base: obviously the most stable one, 0,2-0,4mm tolerance variations, recommended if you can fit with screws.
  2. One-piece clamp: not as stable as the base but works well especially if printed with multiple walls and increased surface thickness. Needs a well calibrated printer and quite a bit of supports, 0,2mm tolerance. I suggest using automatic tree supports with “support critical regions only” and “ironing support interface” enabled. If you're comfortable with it, using PLA support interface on PETG (or the other way around) is also a great option.
  3. Two-parter: much easier to print than the one-piece, will work fine as long as it doesn't have heavy weights pulling down towards the back… if there's some table supporting the weight, it's absolutely ok. 0,2-0,4mm tolerance, recommended if your printer is not particularly well calibrated or if you don't have ‘heavy-duty’ needs. You can rotate in the slicer and place the side that interfaces with the top part on the plate (will need a little support for the thread) for increased strength.

Attach a ‘hinge with connector’ from the modular arms to complete them. All three styles also feature a small 2,2mm hole next to the swivel to lock the rotation, you can use a piece of filament, an allen key, a toothpick, your choice.

If you're not sure about what's the minimum tolerance you're able to print successfully, there's plenty of tests on the site: https://www.printables.com/search/models?q=tolerance+test
