Sabrent 7 Port USB Hub (HB-BUP7) Mount for Simagic Alpha Evo Base

I had previously released a model to mount a passive 4 port USB hub to the side of an Alpha Evo wheel base, which made wiring multiple USB devices up a breeze… That is right up until you start drawing too much power from your USB port, and the whole USB bus decides to tank for a moment mid race. Or you need more than 4 ports, say for some bass shakers.

I've always known you need a powered hub for sim peripherals. I have a 10 port Sabrent powered USB hub desk mount already in my model library for my flight sim gear. The 10 port is pretty overkill however, while the 7 port seems to fit the needs I have.

Here it is, a simple and pretty easy to print mount that bolts directly to the side mount points of the Simagic Alpha Evo bases. Frankly, anything with a 50mm on centre pair of M6 mount points would work with this. This specific design is only going to work properly on the right side of the base. You can't mirror it. I might add a left side version at some point, but not today.

Print settings?

• PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, whatever you like.
• File is already oriented for how I printed it.
• 0.2 layers.
• 15% ~ 30% gyroid infill.
• Organic supports all over. You want to support the overhangs all the way around, unless your bridging is on point. Mine is not. Organic supports are easier to remove.

Post processing:

• Clean off the supports.
• Make sure the corners of the overhands right where you will slide in the hub are perfectly clear of any droop or support materials.

Install:

1. Slide the hub into the mount. Make sure the power and main USB port align to the opening.
2. Use a pair of M6 BHCS or SHCS, 8mm ~ 10mm long, to secure the mount to the right side of the wheel base. If your base is side mounted… you're on an extrusion rig most likely, and can use some M6 hammer head t-nuts to mount this to your extrusion instead.
3. Wire it all up, and wire manage it as neatly as you can. (Yup, those are pictures of my own setup, and I am good with my wire management.)
4. That's it, enjoy your powered 7 port hub with individual power switches for each port to expand your setup with up to 7 USB devices in total.
