Description
This update focuses on print reliability and structural stability, especially in narrow sections of the base plate.
STL mesh fixed by jetmech43
Many thanks for fixing and providing the corrected file 👍
3MF file updated
The wall generator was changed from Classic to Arachne to allow better wall calculation and infill generation in very narrow areas.
⚠ Important note for ORCA Slicer users:
Please make sure to also set the wall generator to Arachne in your slicer.
Using the Classic wall generator can result in insufficient wall structure, which may cause the narrow section to break during use.
This new V2 version of the base plate features a completely redesigned mounting system.
Unlike V1, the base plate is no longer clamped deeply into the gap between the housing wall and the filament inlet cover, which in some cases caused issues during filament retraction.
The base plate is now clamped over the rubber sealing lip of the box lid
It is then snapped in from the rear over the filament inlet cover
This version holds even better than V1
No pressure is applied to the filament inlet cover
No influence on filament retraction anymore
First, press the base plate with the U-profile onto the rubber sealing lip
Align it centrally to the filament inlet hole
Then snap it over the rear edge of the filament inlet cover with some firm pressure
After that, press the front all the way down onto the rubber lip
Finally, attach the Snap Cutter
The mounting is fully tool-free and very secure.

📦 Project Description
This model is my own custom-designed base plate that allows the excellent AMS 2 Pro Saver / Snag Cutter system from Hexavalent to be used inside the QIDI Box (QIDI’s equivalent to the Bambu Lab AMS).
The geometry of this base plate is created completely from scratch and fits exclusively into the QIDI Box.
To make the full system work, you still need the remaining components from the original design, including all functional instructions.
You can find the original model here:
https://makerworld.com/en/models/1286770-ams-2-pro-saver-snag-cutter-v1-0#profileId-1316062
The videos provided in Hexavalent’s original design explain the assembly and the full working mechanism extremely well.
👉 Please make sure to watch them carefully, especially if this is your first time installing the system.
From the original model by Hexavalent, you will need:
4 x Spool Positions 2 & 4 Slide and Arm Options, V1.0.1
(Spool Positions 1 & 3 not necessary for QIDI Box)
No base plate / holder, No push button
(For me, the parts from Plate 1 were sufficient.)
This parts only needed:
Additionally, you will need:
4 x original Bambu Lab Replacement Filament Cutters
(https://store.bambulab.com/products/replacement-filament-cutter)
4 x 75mm PETF tube 4mm OD (leftover from QIDI Box installation material)
4 x 5mm PETF tube 4mm OD (leftover from QIDI Box installation material)
In the photos and videos included here, you can see:
how the base plate is mounted inside the QIDI Box,
how the arm snaps into place,
and how the mechanism moves with the filament path.
A very important detail during use:
To prevent accidental filament cutting while loading filament, always move the slider to the right to disable the cutting function.
After the filament is fully loaded, remember to move the slider back to the left to enable the cutting function again.
Original Designer: Hexavalent
His work is truly outstanding, and without his clever design, this adaptation would not exist.
👉 Please support him by rating and commenting on his original model when downloading the required components.
Printing Recommendations
Material: PETG, ASA, ABS, or any heat-resistant filament
(The QIDI Box heats up during filament drying, so PLA is not recommended.)
Supports: Required
Some areas of the base plate have overhangs and need support.
Included Files
STL file of the base plate
3MF file with ready-to-print profile settings for the QIDI Plus 4
