Description
The mass produced wifi router AC1200 or C6 in revision 4 from tp-link comes with many accessories, except a wallmount or a template that helps drilling the needed holes without wasting time for making a sketch on the wall. (I will later also provide a similar mount for the widely used 8-port switch TL-SG 1008G from the same brand.)
This design delivers both functions in one, that is it can be used just as a time saving drilling template or it can stay between the wall and the router, where it functions both as a wallmount and a guide for the convective airflow to cool the router.
There is also a good chance, that the design fits some other routers from tp-link, especcially like it's predecessors - you might want to give it a try.
When used as a wallmount, two weld-in-threads for M4-Screws can be fitted in the center holes for the two M4 countersunk screws on which the router is to be snapped. By changing their length one can adjust the tightness of the snap fit. The other eight differently shaped holes are for fixing the mount to the wall first (not all are to be used, of course) and fit a lot of different shaped screw heads with shaft sizes up to 4.5mm. In case you choose to use the outermost 4 holes, mind that the screw heads get sunk deep enough into the recesses, as those double as resting pits for the router feet knobs.
In order to make the final snap in montage of the router a success, a hard barrier was included in the design to stop the sliding motion at the correct position.
