Description
I printed the air hockey table as a gift, and I wanted a nice gift box for it. Because I get carried away sometimes, this box is fitted to the table and has retaining springs for the legs to hold the table in securely. There are generous finger holes on the ends for removal. Utter overkill for holding a printed toy.
The box fits the PrintKits - With Scorekeepers version of the table, and probably fits the non-scorekeeper version too.
I modeled this in Fusion 360. I've included the CAD model in .f3d and .STEP formats, so you can add overkill to my overkill.
The inner springs should be printed in PETG with two perimeters to have the right amount of flex. The rest can be printed in the filament of your choice. I used 0.2mm layer height and 2 perimeters, but other settings should work. You can emboss or multi-color the top surface if you feel creative.
Print two copies of the spring. Press them into the slots in the box bottom. They only go one way, I hope.
The table fits tightly. You'll have to press it in and pull it out.
