I wanted to see if it was possible to have the vent be opened and closed automatically for the Core One+ with MMU3. So I tried a few iterations with PETG. Once it seemed to work properly, I created a version from PPCF.
When you assemble it, make sure that the vent opens when you slide to the left and closes when you slide to the right. If it's opposite, turn the grill around.
There are some BIG caveats:
- The biggest one is that Prusa, in their wisdom, have decided to ignore the automatic vent setting if the MMU3 is enabled. That means you have to use “Expert Mode” in settings and go to “Custom G-code” for the filaments you want to use. In the Start G-code section you'll have to either open or close the vent manually:
- To open the vent:
- To close the vent:
- The next biggest one is that the PTFE tube gets in the way if you use the regular straight plastic piece coming out of the extruder for the MMU3. I've found that you can use the BOWDEN BEND plastic piece that's used in non-MMU3 mode. See the last pic.
- The lever will block one of the vent holes. I could route around it, but it's not a big deal. Not really worth the bother.
- The vent should be able to be moved pretty freely. I've found that you should tighten the screws a bit and back them out a bit until the vent stops sticking.
- I haven't tested it extensively with big prints. It's a bit longer that the Prusa version with the regular CORE ONE lid/top.
I'm adding the f3d file and the step file. Feel free to modify.
