Description
Much improved version of my original 3 story birdhouse. As the original, it can also be made as 2 story (lower and upper parts only) or single story (upper parts with lower floor). I've created separate files for window and door trims so they can be printed in accent colors as well as added decorative gable trusses that are simply glued into place once the roofs have been installed. I've also redesigned the rear door latch so it doesn't require hardware (screw). As with the original, there is a plain roof option as well as the dormer roofs and dormer inserts as in the model pictured. The back panels feature print in place doors that work perfectly. Print in holiday colors (elf's house, gingerbread house) for a cute decoration!
I assembled the door trims, windows, latch and gable trusses in one .stl file, assuming they would be printed in the same color. You can obviously separate them out and print individually or any other combination. I've also added ‘initials’ to the side walls that match initials on the floor pieces to help with assembly.
I used default settings for most pieces, 15% grid infill, two perimeters. For the mounting arm, I recommend around 20% to 25% cubic infill. PETG is recommended for exterior use.
The filenames for some indicate which location they are for, such as Lower, Middle or Upper houses. The “TrimPackage” is individual for any of the locations, and if you print two dormer roofs for the Upper house, you will need to print an extra dormer window.
If you enjoy the model (I think it's fun to build), and feel compelled, you can buy me a coffee!

Update 11/30: Recreated all files in mm, as some were processed in inches.
Update 12/01: Added decorative dormer gable truss if you want a little extra decor. Simply glues in place.
Update 12/15: Added new floor pieces that taper down to a drain hole. Also added a drain hole in the mounting arm.
Update 12/18: Updated the Trim Package to include a larger gable truss that looks better, and matches the photos.
Update 12/19: I'm not crazy how the floors with drain print (smoothness), so added back the original flat floors. Your choice!
