Description

Original model is excellent and fits brilliantly as intended. However, the proximity of the switch console to the headrest mounting point was causing a tight and awkward fit on my vehicle (2020 Toyota 4Runner). I needed more distance between the headrest posts and the switch. This model reworks the original by adding extended mounting arms. This greatly improves the headrest's range of motion, giving the front seat passenger more flexibility, while also bringing the screen closer to the backseat passenger. It may not be a necessary addition on some vehicles, but it works wonders in my case. I did also make a few minor tweaks to the model dimensions / geometry which should make it marginally stronger and easier to print.

MASSIVE shoutout to Simson (original creator) for including a link to the OnShape project files. That makes modifications like this monumentally more feasible. Not only that, but incidentally, this is the first time I've seen how parametric variables are actually implemented. So, I can parametrize now… I'm honestly embarrassed at how simple it was… but anyway, there is a third variable in the OnShape project (#length) which dictates the distance between the rear of the switch shell and the front of the headrest post. The default length is 60mm - feel free to adjust as best fits your particular headrest's geometry. The other two variables are still adjustable same as before.
