Description
This lamp takes inspiration from the iconic Christmas tree silhouette, shaping a delicate mesh framework into a crisp, contemporary outline that glows from within. Light filters through the open lattice, creating intricate patterns and a warm ambient aura that enhances both modern and traditional interiors. Its sculptural form delivers a subtle festive nod without overt ornamentation, offering a refined statement piece that adds depth, texture, and seasonal charm to any space.
I've supplied this lamp in 2 versions and many sizes. The V2 lamp is for use with Ikea Lerskiffer 11cm lamp bases and the V3 for use with Ikea Markfrost bases. Both use an E27 golf-ball lamp, suitable wattages range from 3W for the smallest version up to perhaps 10W for the largest. LED BULBS ONLY! DO NOT USE WITH INCANDESCENT OR COMPACT FLUORESCENT BULBS!
3D Printing Settings & Tips
There can be odd results when using larger nozzles with this design as it contains a lot of thin walls that may start to vanish on slicing. I've designed it for use with a 0.4mm nozzle for the smaller ones, increasing to 0.6mm for the larger versions. If you have issues with this you can go into the OpenSCAD file and set the wall thickness parameter manually to get something that works for you.
You may get an complaint from your slicer about missing/floating layers near the top of the tree, this is not a fault with the model it's just a result of how some slicers handle models that come to a sharp point, it can be safely ignored
Sometimes this design actually slices better using the old "Classic" wall generator instead of the newer "Arachne" one. It's worth trying both and looking at the preview to see which does a neater job
This model may print better with seam positions set to "Random", if you use aligned and your filament dribbles at all then you can get ugly seams
"Avoid crossing walls" will help with reducing stringing if your filament is prone to that
UPDATED 7/12/2025 - Add support for Markfrost lamp as Lerskiffer is discontinued.
