Description
This puzzle is based on my "Conceptual Christmas Tree" design which I've scaled up and chopped into 22 pieces which interlock to form a full tree that's 400mm tall and about 175mm across. Each Tier of the tree is made of a selection of parts that interlock using keys that can be round, square or hexagonal, and has square or round lugs on the bottom that lock into the layer below. Be sure you get each layer right, as there are multiple ways to assemble some of the layers and if you pick the wrong one the layer above may not fit into it! I've provided the original .SCAD file so you can change the puzzle key as you like
I've printed this in black PLA with bronze glitter to give a more modern sophisticated look but it should work well in wood-fill to give a traditional toy look or in dark green PLA to give a more natural effect. The example in to the photos above required 550 grams of PLA and took just under 40 hours to print on an ultimaker 2+
