The Invictus

Classification: Ancient Imperial Altair-Class Battleship, later referred to as a "planet destroyer-level" ship.

Design: Characterized by its massive concentric ring structure, which is integral to its function. The design is said to be a much larger version of the faster-than-light (FTL) Jump Ship engine.

Purpose: The ship is capable of folding space to execute a passive space jump without the need for a Spacer, allowing for instantaneous travel across vast interstellar distances. It was a legendary weapon of the Galactic Empire, though it was lost for centuries.

Role in the Series: The Invictus is discovered by the Foundation and is crucial to Hari Seldon's plan, as its technology is key to developing jump ship capabilities for the Foundation's own expansion and to accelerate the development of the new galactic society.
