Description
Lots of cool lego head models out there, including some trailer ball covers. But I didn't want just a cover, especially since it would be easy for someone to just steal off my trailer hitch. So I looked for a way to combine the lego head and a trailer hitch insert all into one. Here's what I've made:
Large lego head has been united with a modified 2" trailer hitch plug using TinkerCad. The Santa Hat and beard have been scaled to match the larger lego head.
If you just download my .stl, you'll also need to download the Santa hat and beard and eyes from the original models. Scale the hat and beard to 133%. You can also use the .stl if you just want a lego head on a trailer hitch. No other accessories needed.
I recommend using my .3mf file instead. It includes the appropriately scaled hat, beard, and face. Also includes two options for printing the hitch and head. Option one is printing as a single unit. The other option is where I have cut the model and added connectors at the point where the hitch and head come together. I don't have an AMS/MMU, so I inserted some pauses in the hat print so you can switch between red and white filaments.
Assemble the whole thing with a generous amount of superglue to make sure nothing falls off while it's bouncing around on the back of your ride. All in all, this came together nicely and looks great on my Jeep.
