If you like my models and that I make random minis for people then come follow and support me on Patreon https://goto.adamnant.com/l/patreon?site=printables&model=dralmorrer-borngray&cta=header - where you can ask me to make minis for you, get updates on my projects like gmbuddy.com and get access to exclusive minis for my Patrons.
This is a character from Heart of the Dragon Queen / Rise of Tiamat / Tyranny of Dragons - Dralmorrer Borngray. He's a high elf fighter type character with some magic sprinkled in. This was a fun one to make and I dabbled with resin presupports on this one which was fun too. While he's technically a high elf fighter he could be used as any human / humanoid elf fighter. Add horns and he's a tiefling, scale him up and he's a goliath rararara.
I've included the eye-patch version of Dralmorrer on the post here but if you want the plain version then hop over to my Patreon where it's free (for now) but this might change later to become exclusive to my Patrons. Here is the link to get eye-patch-less Dralmorrer. Get the plain version here: https://goto.adamnant.com/l/dralmorrer-borngray?site=printables&ref=teaser
For my process on this model I livestreamed it so as usual the video will be once it's done processing here: https://goto.adamnant.com/l/vod-dralmorrer-borngray?site=printables&ref=process
I started on this model with a AI mesh based off reworked reference art then I added some new hands, posed him and then sculpted. Normally I sculpt and pose swapping in between but I sculpted the posed version this time to see how that would turn out. Sometimes the posing a model can add extra creases which get amplified by the multiresolution modifier and that is kinda frustrating. I think this guy turned out OK with this approach so I might keep it in mind but it really does limit future potential poses that could be done. After that I added a shield and sword (handmade from my elf female warrior from ages past) and then an eye patch from a UV sphere and curve. Fun model.
For printing as I mentioned I've included presupported files for resin on this one. It's too cold for me to print here but these are the settings I would use and I'm pretty confident they'll be good. For FDM I would do the usual rotating him onto his back and print with thin tree supports at 30-45 degrees. Angle the sword upwards so that it doesn't have supports wrapped around it and you should be good!
I've completed my quest for 1000 models in 2025 so now I'm trying to decide whats next. You can follow along with me on Thingiverse, Printables, Cults3d or provide suggestions on Patreon here: https://goto.adamnant.com/l/patreon?site=printables&model=dralmorrer-borngray&cta=footer (as well as get codes for exclusive downloads on Cults3d). If you have something that you need or a custom model like this that you want then let me know and let's make it!
