Description
Based upon another model but I built this version from the ground up:
https://www.printables.com/model/925614-cr2-wired-battery-replacement
This variant has 2 separated entry points of the cables, less shorting. I've adjusted the screw-head openings to the POSITIVE side will leave the screw protruding and the NEGATIVE screw nearly flush with the base of the “battery”. I used 2x M3x10 hex socket cap head screws, ideal!
The biggest modification I made was the internal pinch point for the ends of the cable, when the screws are inserted and secured in full. You can use the exposed cable end (I folded each end back on itself once) or you can use connectors/ferrules/blades that fit. I placed a squared off base to each screw landing area that will pinch/grip and hold your connection without coming loose.
I also added a recessed gap between the 2 cable entry points on the external side so you can lay the cable across the “battery” to keep path of the wires as flexible as can be (I will make variant soon were you can bring the cable to the extreme ends of the battery within the footprint of the battery “shell” for devices with vertical battery loading).
My test model was printed in PETG, at 2.8mm high, only 15% infill, but it was so perfect I used the test model as my deployed model. I'd recommend PETG, 2mm, 20% gyroid infill. PLA would do the trick too.
I did use supports and a brim, and they were very easy to remove.
