Description
keeping your filament dry in an IKEA SAMLA box requires a really tight seal on the lid. Otherwise you have to replace you silica gel with dry one much too often. This clip ensures that the lid is pressed on the container strongly. The secret to its success is a little groove for the edge of the lid, which allows the lid to sit a tiny bit deeper than the edge of the box.
This part is a further development based on the very successful clip that I had published years ago. Unfortunately IKEA changed their boxes slightly, without consulting me in advance. For the new boxes the old design did not ensure a really tight seal any more. That is why I made this new one.
For a really tight seal, all around the lid, I recommend to use 10 clips per box. With 3 clips on each long side, and 2 clips on the short sides, you are doing really well.
This clip is very easy to print. Just put it on the print bett in the uploaded orientation for slicing. I recommend to used PETG, as PLA will lose it's grip while it is constantly under load. PETG has the needed flexibility to clip it on.
I recommend 6 perimeters, which will actually result in the part consisting of perimeters only. That makes the part very tough, fast to print and nice to look at (especially if you use translucent material).
Not brim or supports are needed for this part.
Printing 10 pieces on one sheet took 1 hour and 39 minutes on my CoreOne in print setting "0.20mm SPEED" and with setting 6 perimeters (the infill ratio does not matter, as there will be no infill with that many perimeters).
Just for your reference, this is the typical box that the clip is made for. It does work on the half-height boxes as well of course and on the long side of the quarter-sized boxes also
