Description
This project is a fully functional V6 engine model designed for 3D printing. It features:
Moving crankshaft, pistons, timing chain, and two valves per cylinder, standard firing order: 1-2-3-4-5-6,
Fully printable timing chain,
Can be rotated manually or powered by a popular DC motor,
The model is assembled using:
Crankshaft and camshafts: 6x bearings 608 (you can print it from included files),
Oil pan: 8 × M4 × 15 mm + nuts,
Cylinder heads: 8 × M4 × 15 mm + nuts,
Timing chain tensioner: 1 × M4 × 25 mm + nut, 608 bearing
Timing chain guides: 2 × M4 × 8 mm + nuts,
Optional DC motor mount:
Motor type: standard TT DC gear motor (48:1, 3–6 V, yellow plastic housing – widely available)
2 × M2.5 × 25 mm + nuts, or M3 × 25 mm screws (without nuts),
Camshafts: print split along the axis and glue after printing,
Crankshaft: print vertically with supports,
Springs: print with supports,
Valves: print horizontally with supports (vertical printing likely to fail),
Timing chain: print with 0.16 mm layer height. Suggested material PLA
