If you like my models and that I make random minis for people then come follow and support me on Patreon https://goto.adamnant.com/l/patreon?site=printables&model=frost_giant_zombie&cta=header - where you can ask me to make minis for you, get updates on my projects like gmbuddy.com and get access to exclusive minis for my Patrons.
This is a creature that's listed in Explorer's Guide to Wildemount but as far as I can tell it's not used in any campaigns. Since there is a statblock for it and since I couldn't find one of these around online it ended up on my list and today I decided to make the "Frost Giant Zombie".
Doing my usual thing lately where I share some models here and some models on my Patreon I'm sharing this 75mm version here so people looking for the Frost Giant Zombie have access to it. If you want Pre-supported and rescaled (25mm, 50mm) versions they're over on my Patreon here for free for followers (for now): https://goto.adamnant.com/l/frost-giant-zombie?site=printables&model=frost_giant_zombie&cta=teaser
For my process on this model I recorded more of the work which was split into two parts. I didn't include the model optimization work because I got sidetracked looking at tutorials on how to combine material and UV sets and decided to end the stream. The videos are being uploaded to YouTube and you can see them here when they're done processing: https://goto.adamnant.com/l/vod-frost-giant-zombie?site=printables&model=frost_giant_zombie&cta=vod
The model started as a Rodin mesh and from there a lot was done to that base mesh from slicing apart to rigging to sculpting. I took the axe from a separate variant of this guy too. The ice shards, eyes, teeth and tongue were made from simple shapes and plunked into place. Overall a lot of work but I think this is a pretty nice looking mini.
As you can see in the render I've got two variants of this - one with ice crystals and one without. They're both essentially the same mini with that minor change.
For FDM printing I'd print these big ones straight up but any smaller sizes should be rotated on their backs at 90 degrees. As I mentioned about you can get size variants and presupported 32mm versions on my patreon here: https://goto.adamnant.com/l/frost-giant-zombie?site=printables&model=frost_giant_zombie&cta=teaser
For resin printing the 32mm pre-supported versions are up on Patreon. If you want to print the other sizes you'll want to rotate back 45 degrees and use auto supports. The 75mm version probably needs hollowing too and it might also be good to split it into parts. If you really want to resin print the big version let me know and I'll work directly with you to make sure you get the best print files (that said if you do it on your own and want to share a print file or other stuff feel free to remix or send me the files to share)
I've completed my quest for 1000 models in 2025 so now I'm trying to decide whats next. You can follow along with me on Thingiverse, Printables, Cults3d or provide suggestions on Patreon here: https://goto.adamnant.com/l/patreon?site=printables&model=frost_giant_zombie&cta=footer (as well as get codes for exclusive downloads on Cults3d). If you have something that you need or a custom model like this that you want then let me know and let's make it!
