Description
As part of our effort to upgrade our TronXY XY100 printer (also sold as an iMakr STARTT) with a Coprint system, we had to find a way to mount the CX1 modules to the printer and none of the existing bracket designs would fit here. This bracket allow fitting 4 CX1 drive units to the printer and also was designed as a kind of "box girder" to reinforce the printer frame and reduce vibrations.
The parts should be printed in a strong, rigid, and heat-tolerant material as this may have to bear considerable loads and the motors will get at least warm and maybe quite hot. I used Qidi's ABS-GF25 which was a pleasure to print with, very easy to handle and no troubles at all with bed adhesion. This is designed to be printed with a 0.6mm nozzle but a 0.4mm would probably work fine too.
Parts you'll need to assemble this
CX1 Bracket V3 (thin)-Bracket
CX1 Bracket V3 (thin)-Locating lug
CX1 Bracket V3 (thin)-Lug holding clip
CX1 Bracket V3 (thin)-Retaining clip
Coprint CX1 modules (x4)
M2.5 x 4 x 3.5 heat-set insert
M2.5 x 10 cap-head bolt
M3 x 20 cap head bolt
M3 x 15 cap head bolt (x5)
M3 nut (x6)
M3 washer (x12)
M3 x 6 flat-headed laptop screws (optional)
M3 x 38 cap-head bolts (x12)
cables ties (x5)
4mm PTFE tube (about 1.5m)
Once it's printed assemble as follows
Unbolt the Z-axis drive motor bracket on the X-idler side
Slide the printed bracket into place
Use the locating lug, lug holding clip, M3x20, nuts and washers to fix the bracket to the frame
Use the M2.5 bolt to fix the retaining clip into the bracket
Replace and tighten the bolts removed in step 1
Use the 5 M20x15 bolts to fix the bracket to the frame using the remaining holes
(optional) use the M3 x 6 flat headed screws to hold the motors into the frame
Bolt the heads onto the motors using the M3 x 30 bolts
Add the wiring and cable-tie down to the provided attachment points
Add the PTFE tubes, ensuring that they don't restrict head motion
Hope you find this useful and please check out this collection for other items from the upgrade project. This should be the last of the essential hardware modifications (although there may be other optional ones in the future) I hope to be able to make our config files available soon once they're fully tested.
