Description
I have a solar-powered wireless Eufy camera that I wanted to mount in a convenient location on a shade sail post in my front yard. The post is 4.5 inches (114.3mm) in diameter.
I made this clamp to take the standard Eufy camera mount and fix it to this pole.
The design calls for two 4 x 15mm bolts and nut (for the Eufy mounting hardware) and four 6 x 20mm bolts and nuts for the band clamp itself.
I designed it for ease of printing. No supports required and print it in the orientation that the STEP or 3mf file presents it. No need to 'flip' the model.
I've only printed one of these clamps and it turned out just fine :-)
I used PETG-CF because that's what was loaded in my printer and I'm exceedingly lazy. PETG is good for weather resistance and would work very well. ASA or even TPU are also great alternatives. The Carbon Fibre additive I had in my filament is complete overkill and totally unnecessary (again refer to lazy comment above). I'd steer clear of PLA in this sort of application as it'd succumb to the weather far too quickly.
I used 6 perimeters in Prusa Slicer so that the 'band' section was all perimeter and no infill. I used my (personal) default of 20% cubic infill as the fill pattern. To ensure I had 100% fill in the clamp flanges (where stresses may accumulate) I set the "Solid infill threshold area" option (expert mode) to 100 sq.mm. That gave a good looking solid infill to the model where it was needed, and allowed the cubic infill to dominate in non-critical areas.
