Description
I wanted a small version of El_Matador08's "Christmas Tree Expanding Fidget Toy," which could fit in a small gift box. I removed sections until I had the desired dimensions. Then I stretched each segment to make them taller, consequently making the tree taller. Since I don't have an AMS, and was not interested in changing the filament mid-print, I designed the star to be a separate piece (it fits in the top/center section in two socket holes). Then, I added the string/hanger hole to the star, so that it could be hung from a Christmas tree as an ornament.
The collapsed tree with the star attached is ~46.7 mm; and when fully extended, it is ~80.25. The main tree body, without the star attached, expands from 30 mm to ~62.75 mm high.
Note: the socket fit of the star into the center section receiving sockets is fairly tight. It does take some force to get the studs to fully seat into the sockets. I used some pliers to push down on the star without poking my fingers on the sharp star points. Also, the star studs and center piece sockets are designed so that they are slightly offset. Verify the correct orientation before inserting the star.
Note: I first posted this model as a make, but included it as a remix so that the .stl files are available.
