Description
I recently put HSW on my ceiling to hold some lights, and took the opportunity to expand my ever-growing Honeycomb Storage Wall library for Onshape. Rather than a "one size fits all" approach like some of the existing HSW zip-tie inserts, I wanted something that would minimize the visibility of the holes. The inner profile of the path is also curved so the ties thread relatively smoothly.
I've included 3 sizes with 3 different connector options, which should cover most of your needs:
3x2mm: fits most 4-6in zip ties
4x2mm: fits most 8-10in zip ties
6x3mm: fits larger zip ties (but do you really need something that big attached to HSW?!)
Original tabs: these work best with less rigid filaments like PETG or ASA. I find they hold a bit too well for PLA.
Thin tabs: my variation of the original tabs, with fewer of them and a slightly lower profile that makes them easier to get in/out, especially with PLA.
Small hex "tool insert": designed to press-fit into the smaller "tool insert" hex holes.
If you are interested in more customization, you can find the full parametric CAD here at Onshape. If you don't want to create a free account with them, just send me a message with your parameters and I'll render it and add it here.
Print in the material of your choice at 0.2mm layer height. I use the "0.2 structural" setting in PrusaSlicer.
