Description
When the Samsung ice maker gets jammed/stuck with ice, the OEM design breaks when you try to remove the all in one piece door/bucket/dispenser assembly. Got tired of this and simplified the design. The door and bucket are separate pieces. You can remove the door and if it's a frozen mess, get an ice pick or whatever into the hopper and break it up, and then remove the bucket. In normal use, you can remove the door and grab some ice. The new door works with the gasket from the OEM assembly, but also seals up well without it.
Example shown in picture printed in Jessie PETG on a Prusa XL at 0.20 Structural Settings. Uses 6 layers on vertical walls to make them solid. 3mm /M3 machine screws for the latch. I used dense foam for the "spring" until the stainless steel compression springs arrive.
White bucket was printed in Snow White PCTG. on a Prusa XL at 0.20 Structural.
Con: Have to open up the Fridge and the Ice Maker door for Ice. You were going to open the door anyway for a cold drink, right?
Pro: I can get ice. And it can be extracted and if needed, defrosted, if jammed up without shattering the bucket.
Long term: Might try to design a two piece system that lets the in door ice maker and door dispenser work. Have time to do that while I sip a cool iced beverage.
