Description
I decided to make a "blank slate" version of my Mac Mini Storage Expansion model so anyone can build their own insert for an empty Mac Mini case. Take a look at my original design which adds 4 SSD drives and a USB hub inside the Mac Mini for a storage unit that looks like Apple built it.
There are two versions of the model -- one with and one without vent holes on the back panel.
This 3D model is based on the circa 2012-2014 Mac Mini case, so earlier/later models may have slightly different dimensions.
To build your own solution:
Keep your design within the base plate perimeter. This is the maximum footprint once you remove the plastic brackets on the interior. See my original model for how to remove them.
Keep the height no more than the top of the rear panel.
If you are installing electronics, I'd recommend adding air vent holes to the bottom and use the "with vents" version of the 3D model.
Print & enjoy!
Printing:
You can print it in any filament without supports. I used Inland PLA+ in white on a heavily modified Ender 5 Pro, which worked perfectly.
