Description
Improved version of my previous design - a customisable lidded box with hexagonal compartments.
The .scad file generates two parts: the box and the lid. Use a piece of filament as a pin to connect them. You might need to drill the lid with 1.8mm drill and the box with 2mm drill to get rid of minor print defects and giving the hinge looses for a smooth operation.
The .scad file lets you customise at least:
the number of compartments,
whether the rightmost “column” has less or more rows (see pictures),
the size of each compartment (along Y and Z axis),
wall thickness (inner wall as well as the outer and the bottom ones),
looses (aka clearances),
diameter of hinge pin,
size of the latch.
Keep in mind that scaling the example .stl files will also scale the wall widths and the hinge rod diameter, so I discourage doing so.
The model shall print well with no supports.
I printed this one with ABS as well as PET-G, with nozzles starting from 0.25mm up to 0.5mm, and all that went fine even with 0.6mm inner walls.
