Description
I have this Sim Racing rig and I absolutely love it. But as everyone with a Sim Racing setup knows, these things are never really finished. So here’s the next step: a solution to cover the exposed nuts and slots.
I had quite a hard time finding covers that actually fit. As you may know, there are different types of aluminum profiles — not just in size (20 mm, 30 mm, 40 mm), but also by vendor (e.g. Bosch, Item, etc.).
These nut/slot covers are designed specifically for Item I-type aluminum profiles with a 40 mm dimension (e.g. 40x40 mm, 80x40 mm, 120x40 mm, etc.).
I made them as sturdy as possible while keeping the flexibility needed to snap them into place. Please print them in PETG, since PLA is too stiff and will likely break unless you slide the covers in from one open end. Expect to use around 30 g of filament for a total length of 1,000 mm.
I’ve also included a variant with a 10 mm gap, intended for spots where a slot nut is located. There are two sizes available — 50 mm and 100 mm — and you’re welcome to ask if you need additional lengths.
The regular cover comes in 100 mm, but you can easily resize it in your slicer without issues.
I’m currently printing some of these covers for my own rig — feel free to share your makes or prints for inspiration! 😁
