Description

Following the success of the original KeyCarry, the KeyMini is a ultra-slim, rugged evolution designed for those who value pocket space. By combining a flexible TPU exterior with a rigid PLA core, this organizer offers a premium feel with industrial-strength durability.

Read the printing instructions!!! This is an ideal project for beginners looking to move beyond basic prints and learn about manual inserts and multi-material printing.

🛠 Hardware Required

To complete this build, you will need:

  • Chicago Screws: 5mm diameter (also known as Bookbinding screws). Note: Use 4mm if your keys have narrow holes.

  • Washers: To fit your chosen screws.

  • Superglue: For securing the internal core.

  • Threadlocker (Optional): Highly recommended for a "set it and forget it" assembly.

🖨 Printing Instructions

This model uses a "Printed Insert" technique. Follow these steps for a perfect result:

  1. The Core: Print the two PLA core pieces first and set them aside.

  2. The Shell: Start your TPU print. My provided print profile includes a pause at Layer 11.

  3. The Insert: When the printer pauses, place a small dab of superglue into the TPU grooves and insert the PLA cores. Tip: The glue prevents the nozzle from accidentally dislodging the cores when printing resumes.

  4. The Finish: Resume the print. The printer will bridge over the PLA to lock it permanently inside.

  5. Bed Removal: Use a little Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) around the edges to help release the TPU from the build plate safely.
