Kilmorie Stone

This is a 3D recreation of the Kilmorie Stone, a 10th-century cross-slab from Galloway, Scotland. The stone is a primary example of the hybrid culture of the 'Gall-Ghaidhil' (Foreign Gaels) of the Viking Age. The relief carvings depict a unique fusion of faiths: one side displays a Christian crucifixion, while the reverse features iconography often associated with the Norse legend of Sigurd the Dragon Slayer—specifically the motifs of the smith’s tongs and the talking birds. The distinct 'hammer-head' cross shape is unique to the Whithorn school of carving.
