Description

I've been a fan of Carl Barks' Scrooge McDuck ever since Don Rosa blessed us with his fantastic "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" back in the early 90's. For years I've wanted to create my tribute to the stout old duck. My favorite scene with Scrooge is probably when he is swimming in his money.

Scrooge: "I love to dive around in it like a porpoise, and burrow through it like a gopher, and toss it up and let it hit me on the head!".

We (the fans) all know and love that line!

I finally got around to learning Shapelab recently. I can highly recommend it (not sponsored!). I sculpted this model entirely in VR using my Valve Index VR headset. I am quite happy with the result and I hope you like it as well. Please let me know if you print it yourself by posting a "make". :) Thank you!

This is a two part print for stability purposes (body and head). I tried it as one print but it failed several times due to the print head hitting the supports causing them to break off.

The frame you see in the third image is also a model of mine and can be found here!

Printing instructions

  • Print in PLA.

  • Print at 0.15 layer height to preserve details.

  • Slicing from the provided 3mf files is recommended as they have the required supports.

Other notes
The supports on the "beak" can be pretty hard to remove. Be wary of that!

I have an idea for putting this model into clear epoxy resin and adding the floating coins inside the resin. Don't know if that idea will ever come to fruition but it would look really cool!

Thank you to Carl Barks and Don Rosa for making my childhood magical. :)

Note that it is not allowed to use this model for commercial purposes! You are free to print it for non-commercial use. You could gift it to a friend! :)
