Description
These are a selection of bookmarks featuring ZX Spectrum game sprites from back in the day. These are designed to be printed face-down with a multi-colour 3D printer. I used a Bambu Lab X1C with an AMS.
If there is any interest I can produce versions to print face-up that can achieve the dual colour with a simple filament swap at the start of a layer.
The model with likely be face up when added to the slicer so the first thing to do is to flip it to be face down. When added to Bambu Studio there are a few question asked, I presume that PrusaSlicer and Orca Slicer will be similar as they are from the same family. The questions and the way I answered them are as follows:
The object file XXX-bookmark.3mf is too small, and may be in meters or inches. Do you want to scale to millimeters? - Answer No
The file contains several objects positioned at multiple heights. Instead of considering them as multiple objects, should the file be loaded as a single object with multiple parts: - Answer Yes
The model will load as multiple names parts. You will need to set the colours from the main part of the bookmark (called main) and the part or parts that form the sprite image (Called bodyX) to the different colours of your choice before the sprite will be visible in the slicer.
Recommended Settings:
Filament: Bambu Lab TPU for AMS - My preferred material for these bookmarks.
Alternative Filament: PLA - This also works well
Standard 0.20mm print profile
Wall Generator: Arachne
Finally, I have found the final prints are superior if the order of the colours on the first layer are set so that the sprite image is printed first and the main body printed second. The order does not matter on subsequent layers.
Enjoy!
