Description
Hi there, this is a bird bath for my pet parrot conure. Unfortunately, I am unable to upload a video here; at least, I could not find a way. There are bird showers on Amazon ranging from 30 to 60 AUD, but it seems like if one part breaks, then the whole thing is pretty much useless. I want this design to be modular so that if something breaks I only need to replace that part, and for compatibility with different shower heads and extenders. You can artificially extender the height of some parts directly in prusa slicer by cutting and adding shapes. I can provide actual model files upon request.
Some additional parts used in this project, which can be completely changed to your liking (and still fit), are:
1. 7 to 18v water DC pump motor, with a PVC pipe of no more than 7mm inner diameter (10 mm outer diameter) PVC tube. 2.
Battery holder + AA batteries. I used 4 AA and 2 AA batteries in series to make it 9 volts and soldered those connections. Can accommodate up to 2 * long 4AA side by side holders on top of each other, and can support lithium ion, which I highly DO NOT recommend for concerning pets and water. 9V battery holders can also be used.
A switch.Â
And optionally, a 3d pen to seal off the shower head with the pipe connector, which I highly recommend so water doesn't get into the electronics. It was the only easy solution I found while keeping tolerances to fit the two parts. Additionally, a slight mound right at the cyclinder chamfer of the shower head exit is beneficial so water drips down rather than trickle back to the main body and then enter the electronics. I have used this for 2 weeks so far; the electronics have not been affected by the water. There are covers for the electronics, which should be printed absolutely. The pipe connector should be printed with supports, with the pipe connection facing upwards. For the main body I recommend printing on the PEI smooth sheet with glue stick, atleast I didn't want to take risk with warping.
Make at your own risk. I do not take any guarantees for damage to life or property.
